GENERAL LIFE WITH CANCER CLASS REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Life with Cancer requires you to register for any and all programs that you plan to attend. Registration makes it possible for us to notify you in case of unexpected changes due to weather or instructor illness. In addition, programs with fewer than 5 registrants may be canceled or postponed. **Please note: All services are free of change, with the exception of massage and bodywork classes.**

Exploring Breast Cancer Teleseminar Series: Intimacy and Partnership During Breast Cancer - Sept. 29 at Noon: Join us as we listen to Life with Cancer® Oncology Counselor Sage Bolte, PhD, LCSW, OSW-C, discuss sexuality and intimacy during breast cancer, dispel myths, look at the impact of cancer treatments on sexuality and intimacy and discuss options to help manage difficulties with sexuality and intimacy. VIENNA ARTS SOCIETY ART SHOW:ON DISPLAY THROUGH OCTOBER
Enjoy a visit to the new inspirational art show and linger in the healing garden at the Life with Cancer Family Center. On display, and available for sale, will be various media: vatercolor, acrylic, oil, mixed media, colored pencil and photography.


Preparing for Breast Surgery Participants: If you’re planning a mastectomy, lumpectomy or reconstructive surgery, Inova breast care navigators can help you prepare and answer all your questions. Learn about: pain management, drain and dressing management, prosthetics and undergarments, practical tips for bathing, sleeping and moving comfortably. Classes are held regularly at five convenient locations and are free if you are having surgery at an Inova facility. Key to the Cure 2010:
To help raise both money and awareness for women’s cancers, Saks Fifth Avenue Tysons Galleria will partner with Life With Cancer and host the 2010 Key To The Cure, a charity shopping weekend taking place Thursday, October 21 through Sunday, October 24. Saks will donate 2% of sales during the shopping weekend, up to $500,000, to Life With Cancer. Saks Fifth Avenue will also make a donation of $375,000 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. To launch this year’s event, Saks Fifth Avenue, Tysons Galleria will host a Key To The Cure kick-off celebration on Thursday, October 21, featuring a fashion show, tastings from top area restaurants, and, of course, shopping. Saks will also offer a limited-edition Key To The Cure T-shirt designed by Donna Karan, available beginning Friday, October 1 and retailing for $35 in Saks stores, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH stores and on saks.com. 100% of the purchase price of each shirt sold will be donated to local charity partners.

Living with Breast Cancer: Education Sept-Nov:
A six-week education series for those going through breast cancer treatment, paired with the exercise gentle yoga series. Guest speakers include physicians, nurses, nutritionist, physical therapists, genetics counselor to cover a variety of topics: breast cancer development, pathology, radiation therapy, systemic therapy options, hormonal and targeted therapy, genetics, nutrition, lymphedema and the importance of exercise, side effects of treatment, reconstruction, sexuality, the new normal and survivorship care plan. It is encouraged to attend each of the sessions. At time of registration, you may inquire about the specific weekly topics. Invite friends and family members to come with you. Register by 9/28.

Join with others who have experienced the loss of a loved one with cancer within the past two years to discuss and explore the grieving process, accepting and expressing emotions, dealing with children, family and friends, role and lifestyle changes and coping with special dates.
