Courtney is a licensed clinical social worker who joined Life with Cancer in February 2017. She works at Inova Loudoun Hospital as an oncology clinical therapist to support patients, survivors and family members affected by cancer. She is also a certified oncology social worker by the Association of Oncology Social Work. Prior to joining to Life with Cancer she worked as an outpatient mental health therapist for English and Spanish speaking children, adolescents, and adults in Loudoun and Fairfax Counties. She received her master’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2011 and her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Georgetown University in 2005. Her areas of interest include adjustment to illness and survivorship, support for family members and children/adolescents affected by cancer, and ensuring culturally competent treatment and care for cancer patients and survivors. She lives in Chantilly and enjoys spending time with her family, pets, and being outdoors.
