Annabel joined Life with Cancer at the Inova Schar Cancer Institute in August 2022 as an Oncology Nurse Navigator to provide support, education, and guidance to patients with gastrointestinal (GI) cancers. After graduating with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Villanova University in 2017, Annabel worked with hospitalized surgical, oncology, and transplant patients in Washington, D.C. Sparked by an interest in the social/structural determinants of health, Annabel went on to receive joint master’s degrees in Nursing and Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, as well as a certification in Health Disparities and Inequality. During her graduate studies and research, Annabel focused on evaluating and advancing equity related to the care of people with serious illnesses.
Annabel is excited to join an interdisciplinary team focused on holistic support of cancer patients along the care continuum and into survivorship. She hopes to combine relationship-building with an understanding of research to provide personalized and evidence-based services to her patients and their loved ones. In her free time, Annabel enjoys reading and spending time outdoors.
