Sage Bolte, Ph.D., LCSW, OSW-C

Executive Director, Life with Cancer

Dr. Sage Bolte serves as the Executive Director of Life with Cancer and Associate Director of Psychosocial Programs for the Inova Schar Cancer Institute.  She received her bachelors degree in both psychology and social work from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, her masters of social work from University of Michigan and her PhD in social work from Catholic Universiy in Washington, DC.  As a licensed clinical social worker and certified sex therapist, she brings extensive experience in psychosocial oncology research and patient care. Dr. Bolte’s interests and expertise are sexuality and cancer and the various issues that face those both those with metastatic disease and the young adult population. She provides individual, couples and family counseling and facilitates the young adult group, along with speaking at several Life with Cancer programs and co-facilitates the young adult group.

Dr. Bolte leads efforts with her highly skilled team to assess and address the needs of people diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones through identifying, coordinating, developing and implementing clinical support services and programs for this population and their family members. She works with specialists to develop, implement and facilitate programs and groups for individuals living with cancer for individuals living with advanced cancer, and identify and assess needs of their family members for ongoing program development.

In addition to her work at Life with Cancer, Sage is a mother of three (Jecen,  Gavin, Eisley) and lives in Northern Virginia with her husband Jeff.  She loves any outdoor activity in any season and is a self-proclaimed “gym rat”.
