Pediatric Oncology Clinical Therapist

Jemma joined the team at Life with Cancer in May 2021. As a pediatric oncology therapist and licensed clinical social worker, Jemma strives to provide evidence-based and culturally humble care to children, adolescents, and families impacted by cancer. Jemma received her Bachelor of Social Work degree from James Madison University, and her Master of Social Work degree with a specialization in Health Care Practice from the University of Washington.

Jemma is a facilitator for pediatric groups, including the Grief Circle program and LWC Teens Connect. In addition to providing support at the Family Center, she also spends two days per week offering pediatric support services at the Inova Loudoun Hospital. Previously, Jemma has held social work roles providing intensive in-home counseling to children and adolescents, and assisting families navigate hospitalization in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Her areas of interests include pediatric bereavement, anticipatory grief support, palliative care, and working within the intersection of mental health and healthcare. In her free time, Jemma enjoys reading, creative writing, and spending time with her cats and loved ones.
