Behavioral Health Therapist, Oncology & IPOP Coordinator

Kim Lowery Walker, MBA, LCSW-C, OSW-C joined Life with Cancer in 2021 as a Behavioral Health Therapist, Oncology and coordinator of the Integrative Psycho-Oncology Program (IPOP), a four-program curriculum designed to build emotional coping skills and resilience from cognitive, mindfulness-based, and contemplative perspectives. She has a passion for using mind-body interventions, such as mindfulness meditation, yoga, and Reiki, both in work with patients and to support her colleagues.

Prior to Life with Cancer, Kim worked as a hospice social worker, providing emotional support and education to patients at end of life and their families. In 2019-2020, Kim completed the NCI-funded Integrative Oncology Scholars program at the University of Michigan. Her capstone project focused on disparities in access to integrative therapies for hospice patients in the DC region. Prior to entering hospice social work, Kim gained experience working with oncology patients at Medstar Washington Hospital Center’s Cancer Institute and worked with older adults in a continuing care retirement community.
