Sylvia is a Behavioral Health Therapist, Oncology at Inova Schar Cancer. Prior to joining Life with Cancer (LWC) in 2023, Sylvia worked with adults at Inova’s Inpatient Behavioral Health unit at Mount Vernon Hospital. Over her career to date, Sylvia has worked in several settings providing individual, group, and family therapy with children, adolescents, and adults using therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to elicit change and improve mental health. Sylvia received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Radford University and her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Marymount University. She feels honored to be joining LWC’s team to support members of the community through their cancer journey. In her free time, Sylvia enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, traveling to international destinations and reading a new book.
